Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi

Oʻahu Convertible Rental

There is a stretch of the Kalanianaʻole Highway past Makapuʻu where the road, the cliff, and the water line up all at once. A convertible is how that stretch is meant to be driven.

Open-air cars in the fleet

19 vehicles in the Island Luxe fleet answer this right now, each photographed exactly as it sits.

Choose the vehicle that fits your trip. Island Luxe can provide a comparable vehicle in the same category when fleet operations require a substitution.

Which drives suit an open top

The southeast coast from Waikīkī around to Waimānalo is the classic one: cliffs, blowholes, and beach after beach. The North Shore run along Kamehameha Highway is the other, slower and greener, with the water on one side the whole way.

Trade-wind showers on Oʻahu arrive quickly and pass just as quickly. Pull over, raise the roof, and it is usually dry again within a few minutes.

Packing for a convertible

A convertible trades trunk space for the roof mechanism, so bags matter more here than in any other category. Each vehicle page states its luggage guidance, and soft bags flex into the space in a way hard cases resist.

Anything left in an open car goes with you. That applies at every beach park on the island, in any vehicle.

Sun and the open road

Reef-safe sunscreen is the law in Hawaiʻi and the kind thing for the water either way. Apply it before the drive as well as before the swim: an hour with the top back gives more sun than an hour on a beach towel.
